When delving into the specific definitions of a sector it is easy to get confused: let's see what the title is and why the term "925 gold" does not exist.
All precious metals (gold, silver...) cannot be made of pure metal to be worked: it is impossible to create a jewel 100% silver or 100% gold because the precious metal, if not amalgamated with other metals, is not malleable and does not take shape.
All precious metals are then mixed with a variable percentage of other alloys (copper, palladium, etc.) to be shaped. It is clear that the more precious metal is used, the higher the value and the value of the jewel. The quantity of precious metal is indicated by the title, that is, by that little number that is often read next to the type of metal: 925 silver, 585 gold, and similar, which indicates its purity.
“925” and “585” are the numbers that indicate the title, they indicate that out of 1000 parts of metal there are 925 parts of pure silver, or 585 parts of pure gold.
The most common title in silver jewelry is 925 silver , if you take a look at giuzi.it (but also in other online shops or physical jewelry stores) you will often read this wording. All our jewelry is made of silver with 925 title.
You can also find the wording 950 silver but it is very rare, it is a non-standard alloy, requested almost exclusively by the American market. Following the reasoning made previously it will be clear to you that 950 silver has a higher value than 925 silver, because in a jewel with a title of 950 more pure silver is used than in a jewel with a title of 925.
The most common title in gold jewelry is 750 , it is a high percentage of pure metal used and certainly a jewel of high economic value, but jewelry in 585 and 333 gold are also commonly found . Please note: the price of a jewel in 333 gold will certainly be lower and more accessible than a jewel with a title of 750, precisely because little pure metal has been used for its creation. 925 gold does not exist, because 925 is a number that only matches silver and is a title used only in silver jewelry. If you have read a similar statement it is probably a mistake, because it is meaningless. 925 silver can exist, gold-plated silver can exist (it looks like gold, but it is not!) and gold with various numbers following it, such as 24-karat gold, can exist, but 925 gold does not exist .
How do you distinguish a silver jewel from a gold jewel?
A first indication is given by the label or by the jeweler (if you are buying a jewel in a physical store) or by the information reported in the product sheet of the jewel you wish to buy online: on giuzi.it in all the product sheets you will find a symbol and the wording “925 silver”:
Another unmistakable sign: the price! Real gold jewelry has a very high cost, often double or triple compared to a silver or bronze jewel. If you see some images of gold jewelry, they could be gold-plated silver jewelry, the same goes for rose gold. You can easily understand that they are not gold jewelry by their price: take for example our Amuleto necklace , which is a very thin necklace and weighs just a few grams.
A similar model, in gold, would cost around €200/€250, the same necklace in silver has a variable cost from €20 to €80. Do not trust online shops that do not clearly indicate the type of metal used, it is important to be aware of what you are buying and demand transparency to correctly evaluate the purchase and avoid scams.
