We often underestimate the power of the right jewel, at the right time and above all on the right outfit. Of course, not all of us have a special eye for combinations, often we even let ourselves be discouraged by our own purchases.
“I don’t know when to wear that purple necklace but it’s so cute!”
“Ugh I bought a mustard skirt but it doesn’t go well with anything!”
“Damn me when I bought that multicolored scarf!”
How many times have we said these things to ourselves? Well, read this article and you will feel one step closer to being top in every occasion.
2 basic rules to always keep in mind:
- Your style is always in fashion
- Always wear what makes you feel good.
This morbid search for the latest fashion piece, let's face it, stresses us out. Or at least it sometimes causes us a widespread itch around the ears, almost like hives. So first of all, we go through the closet, throw away what is not in the palette, is worn out and that we haven't worn since fifth grade high school (decluttering is a reason for living) and keep what gives us joy (Marie Kondo style). Then we move on to go through other people's closets: Yes, because the neighbor's closet could be greener. So vote for decluttering mom, sister and friends and dive into their bad choices. Why buy something if your mom has a beautiful lemon yellow 70s piece perfect for the summer (we also talked about it here ) that she hasn't worn since Gianna Nannini became a hit with "America" or if your friend bought a sweater in an unflattering color but that looks great on you?
Out with the useless, in with the super match
- Buy clothes that can be mixed together, that you feel comfortable in and that have colors in the same palette ( chrome harmony teaches us ), this way you will find yourself with a lot of ready-made looks that can be interchanged with each other, always creating a new combination.
- Natural fabrics are always the best choice for any occasion and for any garment, they will not make you look sloppy or cheap, so always check the label.
- Buy a piece that will complete your look: a nice long dress with straps for the summer or a long-sleeved patterned one for the winter, match it with a nice pair of sandals or ankle boots and voilà, you're done.
And now let's go with the accessories
Accessories are a fundamental component to make your outfit always look updated or even different. However, we understand that it is not always easy to choose the right ones. A golden rule is that of balance : very important necklace, with showy details or large dimensions? No to long earrings, prefer small points of light or minimal bells (or even nothing). If instead the earring you want to wear is decidedly beautiful and showy (a very long or ultra-colored pendant) combine it with a simple choker or a necklace with delicate lines.
To make things easier for ourselves, we have summarised a few rules to avoid making mistakes:
- Gold Jewel : perfect for enhancing your tan, they are suitable for those with warm colors and for an occasion outfit. It goes well with brown, black, red, burgundy and pastel colors such as pink, light blue and green.
- Silver Jewel : very suitable for less formal and casual looks, but you can also use it with evening looks especially if provided with some light points. It revives bright colors such as emerald, yellow and is also appropriate with black. If your colors are cold, this is the jewel for you!
- Multicolored jewels : On total white or total black they are the death of it. Play with them without exaggerating and layer them with a silver/gold jewel. Don't know how? Read the article on layering
- And finally, if you have a patterned outfit , consisting of a multi-colored dress with prints, match it with a jewel with smooth and clean lines, while if you opt for a basic look, dare with even more important and colorful jewels.
And then there's the last rule, the one you absolutely have to follow: if you look at yourself in the mirror and you feel like a total hottie ... you've made the right choice, go out and get yourself one of the must-haves of the season: a cream puff (and send us a photo of you gorging on it, tagging @giuzi_gioielli )
